Four hours at the beach today.
Sons (10yrs and 8yrs) took out their Ace 150's for the first time.
Pics of them both holding the very first things they dug - what a great way for them to start a new hobby!
Younger son also got a nice 18K triple ring which had him running along the beach at me shouting "GOLD, GOLD, GOLD!":D
Even with all the great distractions of them showing me everything, and trying to teach them at the same time too, I could still dig eight rings and some coins.
Suspect they will clean up the beach in more ways than one and the Ace 150's will keep them very interested for a long time to come. Hopefully they will let me borrow one of them occasionally too?!

Top pic - what a ten year old can do with an Ace 150 first time out.
Middle pic - what an eight year old can do.
Bottom pic - what the biggest kid of them all (me) can do with a Seahunter Mark II.

Very nice. Looks like a fun and exciting day. Amazing how so many rings are lost. I have only found one. Guess i better get busy. Keep going like that and you can open a store. Ha ha.

I just love seeing pics from families out detecting. The pics of the faces on the people are much more interesting then the faces on the coins. I have to compliment you on what a wonderful family you have. Thanks for posting. Oh, before I forget....nice finds too!

Ian,
What part of Japan are you in? I am in Okinawa and hunt the beaches here as much as I can.
Thanks
Emmett

WTG Ian, good to teach the young ones our sport, but don't count on them sharing their 150s.

Great job guys and gals! Ian, please consider posting on the water hunting forum also, your finds are quite impressive.

Great pics Ian. I think those boys are hooked.

Hi Emmett,
I'm in western Japan, near Osaka. Haven't been to Okinawa yet. Always interested to hear how you are getting on with detecting there.....
Ian

Thanks John,
Yes, I agree that the faces are an important part of it all (gold does tend to look warm but in my view is pretty cold and lifeless really) and now that my sons are into it I guess they should also turn the camera lens on me now and again too.
Should get an Ace 250 for my wife (Japanese) and make the whole picture complete i.e. family first, detecting second.

Thanks Gulf Hunter,
Have been viewing the water hunting forum too and do like it.
Due to time constrants though I would prefer to post on just one and my main interest is the Garrett forum at this stage......
Your call on this one though please Bill.......water hunting? or Garrett forum? for my type of posts.
