Wooooo! She Finally Showed her Pretty face! Been dreaming for the day i found one of these and I finally got one!
I decided to go to a neighboring town today to do some detecting in their parks. I have never detected this park before but you can bet I am going back!
My 3 hour hunt started off a little slow and didn't think I was going to have a very good day. About 45 min in I was finally got a screaming 12/13-46/47 was really hoping for a silver and sure enough I pulled out a 1964d rosi dime! hunted for a while more in this area and didn't find much else so I moved to the other park. Barely got started and I dug a solid 1941d wheat penny at 8 inches and so I knew I was in a good spot. about 5 steps later I got a very iffy bouncing 2-48, 3-47 and a random 10-49. But it was really iffy and the dept meter was buried out. So I assumed it was probably just deep iron falsing and almost didn't dig. But there was no way I was going to walk past it and not at least make sure. So I cut a good sized plug, put in my probe at about 6 inches and nothing.... well I decided to dig just a little deeper so I took the next layer of dirt off and got a screaming 9-48 I was like Whooo this is gonna be good! I kept saying to myself "please be a walking half" I flipped the dirt out an no kidding 12-13inches and BOOOM! Sure enough it was a half. I pulled it out and I could see the beautiful eagle on the back. It is very beat up and worn But I don't care She is all mine! A 1917!
I almost went home right there but decided there could be some more goodies. I'm glad I stayed. In the next hour I pulled 2 more silver dimes, a 1948d Rosi and a 1943 Merc. also Pulled another 1946d wheat and a 1942d Nickle. Along with a few keys and some shotgun shell heads. Over all I would have to say this was my best day of hunting yet! Cant wait to go back! Enjoy the pics!!
