I went to Forest park today for the first time after all these years living in St.loius ..because you all said it was hunted to death .... So I did a Bryce ...
Said I was going for the nickle sounds since there was suppose to be no silver left there ....... I got out of the truck turned my unit on walked 30 feet and got my first signal so I thought ok its a tab ... I dig and out pops a nickle ,,at this point I didnt know what kind of nickle it was ,cause it was to dirty to tell so in my pocket it went ,,,,, I thought to my self No way a nickle that easy !
Any way I walk another 10 feet and get another low conductor sound so I dig it and yes it was a pull tab ,,, I thought this is good at least theres tabs ,,,,,meaning some one else wasnt digging them ... not 30 sec later another low signal . I dig it and see something kinda shiny and i say no way ,,,,, but there it was a 1944 d war nickle ,,,, i thought cool im liking this place .....lol .. At this point I needed to know what kind of nickle I had dug first So I dug it out of my pocket ,,, and I guess the dirt had dried enough that now i could see a V on it ,,,, so i had to sit there and try to see the date ... so I cleaned it enough to see the the date a 1888 V nickle ...
The singals are few and far between but I did come across 4 modern pennies ,,,, and then it was time to go home .. So as Im detecting back to the truck I get one of those high sounds ,,,, and after ...yes I did dig alot of alum. scrap I thought ..ok 1 more piece of alum,,, Im going to have to sell ....I dig the hole and low and behold ..a silver canadian dime a 1919 king george.... .. Well it was a fun after noon .... Glad all you guys cleaned out most of the junk and scrap from Forest park ... so i didnt have to dig all those signals ............ Thanks Bryce for your earlier post about going for the gold !!! ..... I shall have to do it again ......I know guys !!! I just got lucky!!!!!
