Hi again. Here is the rest of the story. I also found many silver dollars while there in Viet Nam. Some in the ground and some I bought from kids. They can not spend coin money that is US but they can spend US paper money. So I traded them $2 US paper for the $1 silver coins.
They were really happy with that as the exchange rate was 15,000 dong = $1.00US and you can buy things for 25 dong. Another interesting thing...over here we are finding pop-tops, there .. it is bullets.

But here closer to home, on the 6th or so try with the new MXT, down in a part of Lynx Creek, I got a loud indicator and thought I probably had found a nail or whatever, well it was not. Much to my surprise and amazement .... I found this ....... Not sure if to sell or keep. Partial return on the machine.Wife was jumping for joy.....mmmmmmm. Ths is ..cool but i prefer the stuff i found in Viet Nam with a home-made machine. Did not even have to use my Pinzgauer, as the location was walking distance from our house. Same day I found 1 rattler and 1 nice King snake and 3 Bull snakes. No camera at the time so no nice photos of them. I took the photos of the coin when I got home. Welcome to Arizona.

Now that's a find of a lifetime! :clapping: Does your wife have a gold necklace that can support the coin? It does make for a beautiful pendant. Of course not by putting a hole in it, but by buying a bezel for it at your jewelers. NICE!!!! Good going and thanks for sharing. Sure glad you didn't have your camera when you found the snakes. :surprised: Oh, how I dislike those things! HH to all, Nancy

To be honest, she likes smaller things. This is a $10 and a bit heavy for her. She is Vietnamese and when wearing gold, it is 22 or 24 K; typical Asian, but still likes smaller things on her neck. We may keep it since price of gold is a bit lower, although you do not get the spot-market price, still a good value. The gold coin value may be more then price of the gold. If sold, then once gone, it is gone. Asians often hold onto gold for that rainy day need, not always trusting currency. In south-east Asia, many put savings into gold. Options and decisions. Still, very exciting find to say the least. Would love to know the history and how it got where it was found. This rivals my finds in Viet Nam for being interesting, except this was found with a VERY good detector whereas the VN stuff found with a "home-made" detector.

Yes, you will get more bucks from a coin dealer than spot price. But then they'll take their cut also before selling to someone like you or I. I wouldn't sell it. What a wonderful keepsake! Oh, if that coin could talk. :please: HH to all, Nancy

Every detectors dream find..I'd say a real keeper.:yikes:
