Ancient Unknown Copper

I was out metal detecting today, ground was almost still to hard, but I managed. I found this coin, I live in mass and I have a few coins from the 1700, but this one, I think is older. It is about the size of a dime, irregular shape, concave, and it's very thin. One side is completely smooth. The pic shows the only detail, I beleive it's shows a french lily, encircled in dots, and it may have a crown above the lily. Can anybody identify this coin???

i don't know anything about really old coins but did a google search on pine tree coins and see some similarity. hope this helps. good luck

THIS site has several similar to your coin, not sure if any are an exact match. There are some that are possible but the cross looks slightly different. There is not much else to compare so it's hard to tell. Here is one that's close...

Thanks guys, I looked at the page, those are very old French coins, from the 9th century! That would be really crazy if I found one of those. It dose resemble them, at least what is visible on my coin. I'm thinking it's a English Farthing from the 1600's or even 1500's. But then again, French trappers were coming to this area in the 1500's. I may have to take it an archaeologist for id'ing.

might not be a coin but a piece of jewelry. with the hole in it I would think it was a worn piece.

Here are a couple coins from the viking era that are close....

Carolingian penny
-minted by Charles the Bald between 840-877 A.D.
-grandson of Charlemagne
-minted at the melle mint, Aquataine, France
