An Update Request...

Smudge

I know that more and more people have had the chance to use their G2/GB detectors for awhile now, I wanted to follow up and see how well they were performing at the salt water beaches.

I hear good things for both the dry and wet sand and even managed to locate a cople of videos of people using them in the wet sand where they ran remarkably smooth and were able to hit larger gold (planted) targets at up to 7".

Is this fairly consistent wiht what you have found?

Also, has anyone tried to use th 5x10 at the beach? I presume that it would function the same.

Have used 5" & 10" in fresh, brackish and salt water up to around 2 feet deep. Going's good and stable. Occassional erratic noise when an extra-vigorous wave stirs the sand up, but your ears will easily become attuned to that. Detect parallel to the waterline while on shore or parallel to the waves when in water and you'll have less ground balancing to do. The 10" is great on wide open areas while the 5" is good for poking around tight spots (think of the lines of submerged rocks/cracks as the riffles on mother nature's sluicebox)

3 rings in 1 hunt in georgia last year..... I think it is a great detector and relic season is coming up and its' ready !!!

Smudge I had the bug at the beach 3 times and it does ok. Typically it will GB at 3 or 4 in the wet and I raise it to 10 or 15 so it it not so dead to low conductors as long as it is stable with the salt. I think it does better than my F5 even though it runs at 7.8kz. Close though. I have noticed no difference from the beaches in NC to the ones in FL. Do I feel confident with the machine, Yes I do and if any thing is within 6 inches it will sound off

My Take
