I always like getting up early to MD. It's the coolest part of the day. There was a light drizzle, but it seemed to set a peaceful mood to things. As it got brighter I could see the deer in the fields with the beautiful fall colors.
I went to an important railroad town from days going by. It was so important in the CW, there were troops stationed here the whole time to protect the railroad.
They are riping up a sidewalk and I am going to find history today. This picture was taken about 7:30 and the cars still have their light on.

Here is the old train station. They are making it into a museum. This was the most important place in town and next door was the hotel.

This was the original sidewalk coming down from the church. You would have never known it was there under all that sod.

The town has a lot of brick sidewalks. I get the opportunity to detect under this one.

Who knows how many coins were lost as people came out of this store.

I wouldn't know. All I found was a bunch of old rusty pieces of pipe. I don't know why I got out of a warm bed for this. I had so much mud on me, I went to a car wash to clean up everything. The one wheat I did find must have gotten beat up from a backhoe. I still don't know what the date is.
Hey, I would do it again. I have got to find where they put all the dirt they took out of this place.:detecting:

At a minimum you took some great photos and wrote a nice post. I was entertained. Good tip about using the carwash. Never even considered it and I've needed it!

Rain up here broke about two hours ago and I plan to get in a good morning of MDing tomorrow before the race. Forecast is cold and windy.

Nice pic's, check out some of the bricks for manuf.Marks as some are worth some greens :garrett:

I live in an apartment and don't have a garden hose. I was 2" taller with all that mud on my feet. I had a pull tab stuck in the mud on the bottom of my coil. Thing was going crazy.

Don't tell me that. You have to be an expert at everything in this hobby. Bottles, bullets, coins, marbles, antiques, and now bricks.
I am going to invade Parkersburg Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'm taking a van load of special Olympics to the bowling tournament there. I told my wife I am taking my detector. I'll need to sneak out once in a while or I will go crazier then I am.

ASk the guys who are hauling it away. Good looking spots. Thanks for the history tour. Sorry you didn't score but tomorrow is another day. There ought to be coins lost between the joints of those stone sidewalks.

Bill

Looks like a great place to hunt. Too bad no finds, people should have dropped coins. Maybe in the dirt the crew carried off. Places like that are always interesting to explore and the bricks could tell a story too.

With all the effort you are putting into it, tomorrow could be the day.

Yep I think your right, you need to find where the dirt went. Man what a great place though. Great pics John.
