Back at a park yesterday, trying to refine even more my blast through method I have been using on the F70 with maxed out settings in all metal trying to pick through trash and find the good stuff.
Yesterday instead of the sniper coil I switched back to the big DD and made one more small change which turned out to be a big one...I changed back to DE on the speed instead of SL that I have been using for months.
A huge difference, and that old wheatie plucked out of a very difficult site with a ridiculous amount of iron at 6" proved that it worked, and surprisingly it worked very well even with that big DD coil in this iron infested site.
I also came across this Gruen ladies watch a few inches deep at another area in this big park at a picnic pavilion and picnic site.
They recently knocked down the pavilion and took it all away but I knew it was there because I have hunted this area before many times.
The watch is complete...it seems like the latch just let go and the owner never noticed.
The stem pulls out easily and still adjusts the time perfectly and I believe if I stick a new battery in this thing it will probably still work fine.
The wife doesn't want or need it so it just goes on display...a fine addition to the other time pieces I have found in the past.
In addition, an old harmonica reed, another rosette from a wooden piece of furniture or trim and that small Yale lock from I believe the 30's also came out of that iron mine area.
More and more on every hunt the F70 and I are becoming one...and I am thrilled.
