an occasional gatorade helps to keep muscle cramps at bay.

i drink gatorade after i run about 6-8 miles. I heard that if your not getting any physical activity then you shouldn't drink it.
 
If you drink a lot of it without working out in some way, you can overload on electrolytes...this can cause many different problems...
I bike to most of my hunting spots (up to 12 miles away - 24 miles round trip)...I carry 2 bottles of Gatorade in my bag, plus I have my water pack on my back.

Since a 20 ounce bottle of Gatorade contains 5% of the recommended daily requirement for sodium (table salt) and 1% of the RDA for potassium, I do not think that you are likely to overdose on these electrolytes by drinking Gatorade. There would be too much financial risk for coke to bear. you know, WARNING! GATORADE MAY BE HAZARDOUS FOR YOUR HEALTH AND CAUSE CONVULSIONS AND HEART ATTACKS. I am not trying to be a smart --s, I was a biochemist and nutritionist for 35 years.
8 ounces (1cup) of Pedialyte contains 11% of the sodium RDA and 5% of the potassium RDA. The hydration with water plus these items is the most critical unit in the equation to prevent heat prostration along with cooling off. Use either one, they help and taste good too
