I have read every forum here. A great source of information, and very interesting reading.
My observation is this..Just mine, no offense meant in any way.
If you start at the top The Explorer forum and work your way down and read all it seems, all detectorists think their machine is the best.
If you were trying to figure out which detector for a purchase I don't think you could do it.
So here's what I got out of it.
MINELAB EXPLORERS: Dedicated users. More than a hobby to them. Almost fanatical. Willing to endure hours of time, and effort for the deepest, iffys targets
Hard machine to learn, must be willing to dig lots of iron and like it for a few great finds that add up over time. These detectorists would
go professional if they could.
Xterras: Capable detectorists, like detecting, like a quality machine, not willing to spend hours and hours like the Explorer brothers for the great finds. But find many many old and great finds. Still a Hobby to them, but just about ready for the Explorer units.
Fisher: A little confusion right now about the products..Some like them, some love them, others just not sure. Get good finds and it's a hobby enjoyed by the users..Always seem to wonder if their machines are finding all they would like to find.
Garrett: In it for the Hobby and pure enjoyment of the Hobby of detecting..Always happy with their finds.
Tesoro: Detectorists on the fly..Most seem to have their detector with them, hunt when they can, and find really good targets and items on a less expensive machine. Enjoy tot lot hunting...........and truly like the hobby.
Whites: Wow thats a hard one to figure..Whites users want it all..beach, Gold, Jewelry finds and anything else they can get..All enjoy the hobby and their very dedicated to their choice of machines. Many like the older Whites metered machines more than the latest models out..Just waiting for Whites to break out a super do it all detector.
Bounty Hunter: Detecting on a budget..find out if you like it and move up as you learn and detect more..Some very good finds have been made with these detectors. More a retail store item..
All the other forums seem to be a particular model of the brand names dedicated for getting the most out of your choice of machine. Learning your detector and sharing with all what you find.
The Forum is a great place to belong to.. and So many people are so helpful to others.. A great Hobby, that gets you interested in History, coinage, and many other aspects of treasure hunting..Thank you all for your great inputs...I have learned a lot. Everyone enjoy your chosen hobby and please keep helping us new guys..And if my concept is wrong..sorry..like I said, it's just what I got out of it..but it was all good....
