An important bit to remember about memory/SD cards....

This bit of information includes any type of SD card.

As you browse through your digital camera's many menus you have more than likely come across the Format button. What is it, you ask? Well, it is basically the eternal trash can for images and videos on your SD card.

Here is the important bit of information concerning the Format button: If you hit the button, and then hit ok what you have essentially done is wiped your SD card clean of all information. It does not matter if you have selected the protect feature for those particular images/videos or not, once you ok the action the information is gone. As far as I know it can not be retrieved, but if it can be retrieved it is more than likely not an easy process.

The one time you do want to format a card for certain is when it is new, or if you have a new camera for a card to go into. This will clear up any clutter on the card that is either by defualt or any videos/photos you have on it from another camera.

Just thought I would pass that bit of information along. Beware of the Format button.

everything stored on the disk. You should always format the memory card to the camera it is being used in so that it is matched to that camera. I always format my memory card before I go out into the field to take pictures and I do it through the format function in the camera, not through the computer. Kelley (Texas) :)

Years ago someone told me it was best to format by using the camera, but I don't remember why. Since then, I format using the camera. Kelley (Texas) :)

I just delete the pictures in my computer,, because, the card is in my computer from down loading the pictures, is why,,, its easy for me that way....
But if I need to learn to use the camera....
oh, and it don't use battery power to delete the pictures....
