I'm located in western Oregon. My last few times detecting, the ground had been very soft due to recent rains, and I had difficulty retrieving some targets without leaving a mutilated appearance when done (I strive for a neat result). Today I revisited an idea I had tried and discarded long ago--my wife's bulb planter (the kind that expands to release the earth plug). This type of plugger might not be the best tool in dry or rocky soil; however, in wet, grassy soil, this tool is WONDERFUL and FAST. I'm hoping a shallow plug will not damage the grass during this cool, wet season.
