An Excellent Read on the Infinium IMO

I found the following article while chasing threads from one forum to another. The author, Jim Hemmingway, has written a fantastic article that is detailed, yet easy to comprehend. He covers many aspects of using the Infinium to one's best advantage, with points that apply to many facets of its operations, not just silver detecting. The article expands farther in the same thread providing further details that is worth review. Mr. Hemmingway also comments lightly on other well known brands that he owns, so I believe he is providing a balanced opinion based on the Infinium's capabilities, not just touting his favourite brand. Worth the read...

Excellent!:thumbup:Thanks for sharing!:wiggle:Very interesting!:garrett::detecting: Happy Hunting!:)

My pleasure. Glad to see someone else found it worth the read.

Jim's a great author and that board is excellent, it's owned by Steve from AK Mining, an Infinium expert if there ever was one.

By the way, nice to see another Vancouver user on here... My Infinium and I spent today at English Bay.

Jennifer :clapping:

Hey Jennifer, I too hit English Bay (Second Beach) with my Infinium today, but not until 6:00 PM. It was only my second outing with it, so I'm still very much learning, but I'm getting a sense of the subtleties of the audio vs. the various targets. I discovered a number of times how a larger target like a juice bottle cap, can saturate a large area if it's close to the surface, and the Threshold is any higher than 0. Lots of coins, a couple pieces of kids cheap jewellery, but nothing special.

Hey there Steve and Jennifer, Seems there is another Vancouver Infinium user on this forum...your truly!
Are you guys going to do the night hunt at the fireworks next week? See you there!

Oh, I never thought of the fireworks, but it would be a good call. I wonder if it would be better to run with my 2500 if I'm staying on the grass/dry sand... I'm off the next day, so it's viable, but I'll decide closer to the date. Thanks for the heads-up!

HA!!!

Tooooo funny, I was at 2nd Beach last night.... thanks for picking up some of the pull tabs and bottle tops for me.. it would have been worse without you I'm sure...that place was CHOCKER full of beer bottle tops.

I picked up a few bucks and a silver necklace that I researched online and cost $130.00 so I made a few bucks... here's the necklace I found (in a different letter, if anyone on this board lost it and can identify what letter it is, let me know). http://www.pyrrha.com/shop/product/id/94/letter-n

I was using my E-Trac last night as I stayed high on the sand up near the logs... between the two of us we should be able to clear out all those caps/tabs so we can start searching for the real goodies. :)

PennyFinder:garrett::garrett::garrett::garrett::garrett::garrett::garrett::garrett:

I don't do the night hunt because it's WAY TOOO FULL ON psycho down there with all the "bridgers and tunneler's".. I usually wait till their long gone home and by the next morning all you night hunters have cleaned up most of their caps and tabs for me to go in and get the good stuff... NARF!!!! kidding...

I don't see the barge out there yet (mind you I haven't looked), are you talking about the yearly fireworks competition at Ingrish Bay?

Jen

That may be a better choice Steve, as there is a lot of trash after the show, so a quick response VLF with good discrimination would be my first choice.
The beach cleaners get to work at around 6:00AM. It is the perfect time to get in the zone. Bring big pockets!

PennyFinder:garrett::garrett::garrett::garrett::garrett::garrett::garrett::garrett:

I run my E-Trac wide open (no discrim), I have found that Canadian coins give to unreliable of a signal
To reliably blank out trash. At times they pop in a masked area. Same with gold rings, they show as pull tabs at times. But you guys feel free to discriminate :eek:)

Jen

Jen it is not as bad as you think, there is about a half a dozen detectorist after the fireworks. Stick close by me or another and you will be fine. I'm the guy with the red headlamp kind of a big guy 6'3" 235Lbs. (infared light doesn't affect your night vision).
It is actually an extremely peaceful hunt, my favorite actually, night hunting

Hmmm I'm tempted. I hate being in traffic/line-ups and the like, so if I were to hunt after the show, I'd likely slink down earlier in the day. I've not gone to the fireworks before, so I have no idea where to head to without doing some research. Jen and PennyFinder; Are you thinking about hitting it after the fireworks, or the next morning bright and early?

Steve and Jen, I go right after the crowds disperse and I hunt midnight until 7am or so, even whilst the beach cleaner comes around first thing in the morning.
At the crack of dawn,you have to detect faster than the news crews walk with their cameras, or else you'll be on the News Hour.:cool:

PennyFinder: How was your luck? Did you hit the last two shows?

Jen: Glad to have cleaned the beach a bit for you :spin: Lots of beer caps under the logs for sure. Nice bracelet you found - I haven't been back since unfortunately. Work seems to interfere with my personal life ;-)

Steve, as usual the hunt was beautiful! The change I found literally had me constantly pulling up my pants, my pockets were so full! :wiggle:Can't wait until next year!
Jen congrats on the silver goodie, nice little addition to your growing jewelry box!
Never had any guff from the shadow people Jen, btw.
