An Excel Program To Keep Track Of Your Gold Ring Values, Etc!

A friend of mine is an expert in Excel since he uses it a lot for work. He developed a program for it that allows you to list all your rings, K value, etc. It then subtracts a small percentage for the stone weight to get a more realistic scrap gold weight value. You can then enter the current price of gold and it will subtract the small percentage that Midwest or others (I think he lists several) is currently taking as a fee. The end result is you simply enter the current market gold price and the program will show you each ring's value in scrap gold minus all the above. It's a handy way to keep track of the current value of both individual rings and your entire collection as a whole.

I told him to post a message like this on here and he might still yet to provide more details or correct something I said. Either way, since he can't upload this program to Find Mall due to it's restrictions of file types, he is willing to Email it to people who wish to have it. Send me a PM with your Email address and I'll Email you the program (or template, whatever you call it) for Excel. He may come on here himself and offer that but either way he doesn't have a problem with me sending it to people.

You need to PM me your email address if you want the template. Here's what my friend had to say about the format and how it works...

"Heres the spreadsheet I made.
All the blue-shaded fields are where you would input your data. I entered 5.787 Dwts (9 grams) as the weight for each carat so you can see what its doing. On the 3rd row I entered 5% as the stone weight to be subtracted. The refining fee of 2% is what ARA Gold charges. Ive also got links to ARA Gold, Kitco spot price, and precious metals calculator websites.
Once I get my scale, Im going to list each individual ring (and other gold pieces). The last row will show the totals. So all I would have to do would be to change the spot price to refresh my total collection value."

Got it Critterhunter thanks, i'll need to add a table to change gms to dwt automatically as this side of the water dwt is extinct.

this one works ok too
