An early shoe buckle, a whatzit and the crooked spoon

It was a nice evening of detecting with CTTodd. My research led us a bit astray on this one so we wasted some time in the wrong field. Typically I can be fairly sure of where a place is going to be, but I guess a 160 years ago the mapmakers had a rough night before they went out to survey this area....Anyhow, we ended up with some nice finds. The shoe buckle probably dates to early 1800's or late 1700's.

The arrowhead shaped thing is the whatzit.. It is hollow on the backside...

There is supposed to be another early homestead on the property so hopefully we will be able to hit it soon.

Yes was fun Gary

Nice early relics GK its funny how you can walk straight to one site and the next one :sadwalk: The whatzit lookslike a finial but that doesn't explain the hollow backside?

Nice early finds, I would love to find a shoe buckle sometime. I like the spoon too, very decorative. I would really love to be able to straighten out those bent spoons they would display so much nicer.

The whatzit looks like the decorative top to a rod iron fence... Just a guess but that's what it reminds me of. Nice digs yet again keep them coming.

Whatzit looks like a stamp seal thingy

Interesting digs Gary - those old shoe buckles are pretty sweet!

Thanks Folks, hopefully we will be finding more soon!

A lot of folks suggested that the whatzit may be the top of a iron fence. It is made of something other than iron, I'd bookie on the back side and thin.
