An awesome week of finds...

Bavaria Mike

New member
The field I have been detecting gave up some awesome relics this week. Had a hail storm come through one evening when I was in the middle of the field and fortunately, I had a ski cap on and a hood on my jacket. Must have been an omen as I found another Roman coin shortly after the hail stopped and the Romans were not settled here. I was only able to detect 1/3 of the field and I am not sure if I will get back to it as I will be moving over the next few weeks. Here is a beautiful church I passed most days on my drive to and from work, digital camera could not take a nice picture but here it is.

Here are the better finds. Also have a handful of worn copper coins, buttons, relics and a few clay marbles. The lead finds, 3 musket balls, a possible spindle whorl, two lead seals and a lead tag with no markings.

A homemade buckle, an old cracked thimble and another buckle.

A large encrusted religious pendant.

Obverse of an American sterling silver marksmanship badge probably from WWII.

Reverse of the badge. Had two mounting pins and the hangars would have had the qualification level of expert, sharpshooter or marksman.

But you are going out in STYLE! Those are some awesome coins Mike!:super: Man I like that buckle too. It's a shame you will be leaving that field. Hey, I didn't see your gold in W&ET. Did I miss it or did you not enter it in the Best Finds? Great stuff as usual!

The Celts and Romans were settled in the area I am moving to. I think this field must have been a going away gift from the find Gods, it is the best field I have detected in that area in over one year. I did not enter my coin into W&E, was going to make it a winter project but winter never came to us here in Germany, I had one week I could not detect. Maybe I will enter the next gold coin, I plan on finding many more, LOL! HH, Mike

since the Stone Age. I detected there for about 12 hrs this week, what a let down, only a few finds and nothing Celtic or Roman. HH, Mike
