An antique gem, large cents, and more...A great couple hours detecting with CTTodd

Todd and I made it back to the homesites that we were at the other day where I found the 1776 1/2 reale and Todd cleaned up with five coppers.
Tonight it was windy as heck at the top of the field and I almost decided to go down to the bottom of the field somewhere near Todd since I was fighting the wind and cold. In the end I decided to stay and gridded off as much of the area as I could since we are in a race against time befor the corn is planted. I probably set a personal record for how fast I was swinging the coil across the soil... In the end the 17 incher helped me cover a lot of ground and rule out a lot of areas that were nowhere near as productive. As soon as I got back in to the area where I found the 1776 the other day targets started to come fast and furious.
A buckle, crotal bell, and a whatzit, with a small handle at the top and a hole through it (in the picture to the left of the crotal)

Coins of the night where two large cents 1820 and 1828, and what may be a half cent or maybe a King George, I'll have to measure it to narrow it down some.

A nice tombac button, two non descript buttons and two nicely engraved buttons,

And last but not least a possible watch key with a blue cut gem perhaps aquamarine or topaz

Overall a great night of detecting

Very nice set of finds. The fields around here are getting a little to populated with crops.

Gary great finds and hunt, looks like it was your turn to do a little better than Todd. That 17 sure covers some turf, WTG.

I wanna find stuff like that... :-(
the handle thingie is part of an old valve... turn it one way and the holes line up and liquid flows, turn it 90 degrees and it stops...

thanks Marty! It's out there you just have to be looking in the right places. .I used the methods we had previously discussed to research this location...
Here are two really short videos of discoveries that made the other dayDigging a large cent: http://youtu.be/9CIPuFR8Hag

Great Finds. A reale is on my list, the date 1776 would be even better.
