An almost divine day outside...

Today, in order to beat cabin fever, Luke, my son and me decided to go to our local national park for a walk and a bit of fresh air. That,s the usual place we go for water detection. THis lake being very large but shallow was sure to be frozen solid, and we planned to walk over the water like some fellow we knew 2000 and some years ago.
Here the usual road i've posted several times before... but this time, snow was a bit higher than in january (altough we didn't get mutch so far this year).

Please forgive the very poor quality of the pictures. I dont know why i took that small piece of crap camera :( &%$*$%?* i had some real nice pictures, but the camera went bezerk and most of them are ruined :( that's the last time i use that piece of electronic garbage !

The were a lot of people out there today. Parking was virtually full! Exactly like a hot summer day. Most of the people were skiing, snow shoes riding, skyth skiing, or like us, just taking a bit of fresh air. (once again, sorry for the picture's quality)

My son wanted to do some sliding, so we went for the on site sleds...

Then we took a walk on the lake's shore. We spotted some places where sand could be seen thru the snow. For some reason, the sand wasn't frozen even if the temperature was minus 8 degrees celcius. Maybe there are some inground streams...Those little spots reminded us of the better seson's detecting and we couldn't help but search the sand a little... found bottle caps and Luke tryed to make me beleve he had found a twonie... nice try buddy !

We then went for a hot chocolate at the beach's restaurant. It was way too hot inside so we finished our drinks outside. I was overdressed. Long johns, overalls... way too mutch for exercice walk.

We got back on the truck and went a bit further where we saw a virtual village on the lake. It felt real odd to drive over the lake, especially over some dark spots uncovered by snow.

We taliked to some people fishing. It wasn't biting mutch but we heared some joy scream here and there, so i guess some people were happy. Ice was about two foot thick and even if some place the ice was totally translucent, we knew the truck was safe... but i couldn't help been a little worry each time a dark spot showed up.

Finally, since we were on location, we decided to make a little visit to the local indian reservation. It felt odd to clib the hill on the road where the natives raised their barricades and i was looking at the woody areas just on the side road. Couldn't help but remembering the fallen Provicial police officer the died that day. I was present at his funeral ceremony... never could pin point who shot him... anyway, that old story...

The indian reservation is a very tricky political place and native benefit from that and are selling duty free cigarrets. Normally only the native should avoid paying taxes on their reservation, but theyu decided to extend that privilege to anyone driving in. We counted at least 25 to 30 shacks on the road side... all of them selling native cigarrets. If you can like their tobacco, it's a good bargain at 20 bucks a cartridge instead of 60$ outside the reservation.

Well that's about it for today. I'm real pissed off by the pictures i've lost today... had some nice skyth skiing scenes... oh well, at least we got out !
