Amigo II and other options

Was considering buying a basic detector for my daughter who is going to be 6. nothing spectacular but reasonable for the age. Choices are the Prospector from Kelleyco at 1.25 lb. and $29 and mayber a used AMIGO II but they seem to be rare and even rare in the price area appropriate for her age.
I have yet to figure out the actual weight of the Amigo II as well and since it isn't listed on the Tesero site I assume they no longer sell it new.
Just for the kids. I have my own arsinal already.
Any other choices?

I don't know the price range you are looking in but I think you couldn't do better than a Compadre, maybe your dealer has a used one available. I know its the one I'd get to start someone off. Super machine from all I hear.

<body background="http://wiredcafe.net/jbms/tesorobg1.jpg">The Compadre is an Amigo II in a uMax housing and probably the best value out there. My main hunting buddy uses one as his primary detector and has made some excellent finds with it, 1776 half reale, 1831 bust dime, several nice pieces of jewelry and a lot of post 1900 silver coins. They also have better target separation in ferrous trash than any of the new model Tesoro's I've used. The only drawback is no pinpoint mode and it takes some people a little time to learn to pinpoint in disc mode.

The Compadre offers an outstanding performing machine at a ridcuously low price.
I am often amazed at the finds that come out of the ground!
Heck I know a guy who walked over two gold nuggets with his DFX and his young son dug them with a Compadre.
Shortly after that the DFX got sold and He is now useing a Tejon.
Considering price, weight, adjustabilty to a small person and performance that rivals top of line machines. In my opinion there is no better choice!
Nor any other manufacturers entry level machine that comes close.

...sell the Tesoro Compadre for the bare-bones minimum factory allowable price of $151.20, including shipping, and for the money, you will not find a better entry level detector anywhere by any manufacturer. I use one ALOT with a 4 inch coil conversion in very trashy sites, one of the places where the smaller coil and lower sensitivity come in very handy.
If I could have THREE wishes granted in this hobby of ours, they would be....
1. A Tesoro Compadre with 4 inch coil (check!)
2. A Shadow x5 with 5 inch coil (check!)
3. And a time machine to take me and the machines back about 40 years....... (oh well, two out of three ain't bad)
