It amazes me while visiting most of all the sites, on the amount of coins people claim to find, in local city parks. Some claim as much, and more then $20.00 in various coins, in ONE days finds. I have been metal detecting for over 20 years, and have hunted in parks, of alot of the major cities, and have yet to come up with those amounts. Maybe I need to change detectors, in which I have over a dozen different models, from various manufacturers, OR MAYBE JUST HAVEN'T BEEN THAT LUCKY YET.

Some of those people might be from Canada, Australia, etc. where larger denominations of coins are in circulation. It's pretty rare that you hear of people in the states pulling up that much clad in a hunt, but it happens.

Up here in Canada 1and 2 dollar coins are used.one and two dollar bills are no longer produced so it
it is common to find them.I have dug 257 loonies and 77 toonies this year so far this year.my best day
this year so far is $30.30 in one park.I still dig everything and have also gotten over 4000 pennies.

Same here in Australia. We have $1 and $2 coins in circulation. My best haul is $109 in two hours. My personal record is $600 in September! That bought me a Garrett Sea Hunter so now I am hunting the surf too :detecting:

It's not always like that though. Last night I went out for two hours and I came home with $5.90. Check out some of my videos

amazing!!!! the kids at that school must have holes in their pockets. It doesn't get much better than that
to pop that many shallow coins out of nice grass

Ihunted for a half hour today and found about adollar in change. i loved it ,I felt lucky, but for some of the post I question? I am a land hunter, I love coins , but I want call anybody out on there finds, but I will call to my attention what I know ..Keep um honest Johnny.

Here is a picture of $500.00 in non penny coins that that i had gotten by the beginning of sept this year

For coins, its hard to beat th e2200 isn't it?

How do the loonied andf toonies appear on the 2200 display? Are they quarters, pennies, zinc or what?

Mark

PS: Aren't Canadian pennies now made of steel? If that is so, if you discriminate out iron, you will miss the new pennies will you not?

Loonies and toonies show up as a dime to quarter on the display with a real strong tone.I have dug so many coins now with the 2200 i normally go by sound alone and use the display for depth.Because it is calibrated for the alloys in U.S. coins it is pretty accurate when it is a U.S. coin on the display.
