Amazing what you can see [from a VERY safe distance] while out picking huckleberries..

She was very majestic, with her 3 babies..... but I am glad I had a long telephoto lens. :):

Wow Mikie!!

You sure have to stay on your toes there or they might end up as snacks for the young ones!!

Triplets are pretty rare aren't they?

Great pictures and glad things went your way; wind direction, sound, and timing have to be right in a case like this!!

Kinda like handling explosives; makes the hair stand up on my neck to even think about it!!

I assume from the coloring of the bears that they are Grizzly Bears? How far were they from you? Did you leave the area after seeing them? Do you think that they knew you were there? One more question, is it dry there? Mike, I love pictures like these, especially bear pictures. Thanks for posting them. Kelley (Texas) :)

picking the berries when you saw them? Fascinating area you live in!!

that time that you were visiting Mike and Alice. It looked something like these bears. Kelley (Texas) :)

They were Grizzleys as well.... and we did not stay around to get a better photo.

I felt very fortunate that we saw them... and even more so that I have my 12 guage with me... I did not need it.. but it is a nice comfort. Fairly dry... summer weather now.

probably would have been safer but would have never seen them. Wayne would know more about that for sure but is seems that surprising them would have been very dangerous

Look at the caches around your place!! The green dots are hidden caches

You are saying feet, not yards, correct? I think that I would have gotten out of there as quickly as possible too! Kelley (Texas) :)

are next to the truck and have an RPG:rolleyes:
Can't be helped though, it happens. As you know most will only threaten, unless they figure there is a real threat to their Cubs.
Fine healthy looking Sow, i like Grizz, they are generally no problem, unlike Blacks who are thieves and cowards. Excellent photos :clapping:

attention in a hurry. Always heard the ones with cubs around where to be given a wide berth. Beautiful animals for sure. Long as they don't put me on the menu I'd be find with them with a lot of caution added in. You guys sure are in the area for the big game. Do they
have and open season on the bear there? That group could have my share of the berries...

I know how fast those suckers can run... So all in all, I was , well maybe not worried... but I was concerned enough to have the gun in my hands, shell chambered and ready until we got in the truck and were on our way. :):

WE were pretty quiet at the time, focused on the berries... and there was no wind that I remember.... so she probably did not see/smell us either until I stood up..

And like you say..... it was not one of those thieving blacks... they are a real pain..... as is evidenced by those two guys up Albernie way a couple of days back.

Grizzlies have a limited entry hunt... and to be fair, I have no use for that. Those hunts are for the trophy hunters.... and when I hunt, it is for meat.

and as I zoom closer there are many more. It is a hobby that has really caught on. It was started in 2001 and now there are over 750,000 world wide.
