Today i was detecting the Rum river bottom land and i got a nice signal and up came 1/2 of an axhead so i kept detecting and about 30 ft away i found the other half It was hand forged . I know from oldtimers in this earea this was last looged in the 1930s during the dust bowl , then this would have all been dry ground the bottom land is subject to flooding I suppose on that fatfull day back in the 1930s paw was out whith his sons cutting down trees and chopping very hard when sudenly the fine hairline crack finaly gave way and the ax split in two his sons looked at him whith dread paw thats the only ax we have then paw in frustration picked up half and threw it and thear it lay silent no longer would its sharp blade cut thru a tree thear it lay long have the pounding of the blacksmiths hammer gone silent still still in the forest flore, fall was comming the leaves gently covered it and then the snow and so it was year after year and paw passed away to but his sons came back to get more firewood in the years to come but now instead of the old hand forged ax it was the buzz of a sthill chane saw be carfull son stand back as the wood cutting continues whith a new generation -- ohh and by the way i also found a 25- 36 UMC marlen casing will ceep you posted on moor finds from the deep woods GunnarMN
