Am I nuts :stars: the wife thinks so! :punch:

Another terrifically HOT day today and when I got done with work, away I went to try and find some goodies..........I found a spot that had some large trees, so I figured if I hunted in the shade, maybe it wouldn't be quite so darn unbearable from the heat..........despite the dry, hard ground, I found three Mercs (1919, 1935, & 1942) and a mystery dime still in the hard plug of dirt (I might keep it in the plug for a little contest for the club I'm in), a 19-S wheat and the neat band button.

The wifey said I was nuts to hunt in this heat.......well, maybe I am, then again, it could be an ADDICTION!!!

Happy 4th everyone.........Hawkeye Jim.

Congrats on the Mercs and the mystery dime; hope its a Barber. My wife thinks I'm crazy for detecting when its so darn hot too--yeah I'm addicted, but at least its to something worth being addicted to. I'll be out at the crack of dawn tomorrow hoping to beat the heat.

Congrats on the finds. Getting out in this heat is an accomplishment by itself. My wife said the same thing to me many times. She worries about me all the time when I'm out by myself and makes me call home and let her know where I'm at in case anything happens. This heat can be really dangerous and can overwhelm you quickly without you realizing it. But, you are right, it is an addiction that needs to be satisfied and the only way to do that is get out and hunt. Just be safe and know when to quit. My guess on the mystery dime is a rosie.

Congrats on the finds! I hope the mystery dime is a seated.

I guess I am nuts too !!! I hunted 3 hours today after work today and it was HOT !!!! I am going out again in the morning beginning at 6am to try to beat the heat. Congrats on your finds and I hope the mystery dime is a 1916D Merc.

Great hunting Hawkeye!:thumbup:Your addicted alright! Me too!:crylol: The heat dont bother me as much as the hard dry ground.:sadwalk:

Well, as addictions go this one's not so bad! Nice little stack of silver there to. At least out addiction nets us nice finds.

Many years ago I learned a very bad lesson with the heat. I was working inside a boat in 100+ temps. I suddenly stopped sweating and thought that was odd but only needed ten more minutes to finish. By then it felt cold and I got the chills. Decided I'd better walk up the dock to my friends AC'd shop. That's when I discovered I could barely stand and I didn't know if I could make it from boat to dock. I crawled realising I was in WAY more trouble then I thought. I stumbled to his shop where I collapsed in a chair. He took one look at me and wanted to call an ambulance. Being young, tough and uninsured I declined the offer opting to consume about two gallons of liquids and sat there sick as the proverbial dog for several hours recovering. I was messed up for three days getting over that one. Be careful with the heat!

Nice finds Jim! Good luck in your contest and let us know what it turned out to be.
