Am I crazy,

Bowie

New member
for wanting to buy an out of production detector over XLT, FDX,F75 or SE?? Please tell me Im not. Im working on a deal for a XL Pro.
Its really you guys fault from all the good things I read about it. Yep, yours. Mind ya now, its not your fault if the deal falls thru but just the fact
Im wanting one more than a newer production, technology. I just dont do things like this, buy off the internet, buy used ( I want a warranty).
Well, wish me luck,
John

Bowie, basicly the final decision is yours! I like the older more classic, vintage detectors but that is my own personal decision! I have over 37 years of experience using detectors and I can use and operate anything ever made new or vintage! But I prefer the older detectors not just to collect but also use them in my everyday metal detecting excursions!......................................HH......................Joe

Heya Joe,yeah, Im sweatin bullets doin this. But I wanna try one. Years ago I used a 2db and 6db,my dads last machines. Then nothing until now. The 6db had the intensity meter and used 14 AA bateries, lol. I have a M6 and was thinkin XLT as my next step but just couldnt resist goin for an XL Pro. Ive read where some guys that have several machines (not just Whites) and a XL Pro have said, "if they had to give em all up but one, that one would be the Pro." So,here I am,lol. Thanks for your response.

Ha...NOPE. Every other week I think the same thing....I would like to try an XL Pro.

Something about a detector where you see all the settings at once, simple and can still hunt with the best of them.

That's why I will never sell my CZ6a. No matter how much clatter is in my brain, it takes 5 seconds to set up and I never forget how.

Of all the detectors I have bought and sold I wish I would have kept the 6000 di pro sl. If you take the time to learn it, you will really like it. It doesn't have tone ID but the meter ID is one of the best ever made. With these detectors you will need to use a faster sweep speed. I like the discontinued detectors myself and have several of them.

Sweep speed. Now, with the M6, I count one thousand one, one thousand two for a left right or right left speed. Can one of you guys give me an idea of how fast or slow to sweep the XL Pro. Sometimes I do slow down the M6 when trash is heavier.
I have read the SAT mode is good to use in a heavier trash environment. Just curious about that. Do you guys mostly accept or reject hot rocks,my mineralization at most places I hunt is very mild. Do you lock or track the ground?? If you lock the ground, how often do you rebalance??
I will have more questions,Im sure.
Thanks
John

The XL-Pro in disc mode is for cruising, you can vary your sweep speed but it does better with a faster sweep speed. If you have mild minerals, I would accept hot rocks, you can usually tell if you need to reGB when you pinpoint and you notice GB is off, I used mine in locked position mostly.

Thanks Steve(MS). My XL Pro is on its way. It is coming with the stock coil and a 8 inch coil. I will buy the 6 inch coil in a few weeks. Getting to close to Christmas so I better not push my luck, wife , you know how it is. Yeah, Im reading all you guys post, lol. Been reading about the SAT mode and hunting in trash with that mode.
The (MS) in your name, guessing your from Mississippi. Im next door to you in Louisiana (Monroe).
I read that the ground tracking isnt that bad but not great either on this machine and some folks, like you, lock it in.
Well Ive read so much about the Pro,Im giving it a shot. It was either the XLT or Pro as my next machine.
Do you hunt in all metal much?? Then pull trigger to check discrimination on target??
Thanks much,
John
Oh, do or have you ever used the 8 inch coil and how do you like it?? How is it compared to the 6 inch coil?

buy it,and never look back, cause somethin' might be gainin' on ya!..(satchel page!)..

(h.h!)

Yes, that is Mississippi. You can set it up to hunt in SAT all metal and watch the readout then pull the trigger and it will be in disc mode. It's a really good detector and has excellent nail rejection in disc mode.
