Aluminum objects

I just returned from a local park about 1 mile from my house. I don't think the part is very old... perhaps built in the 1970s. There are thousands of signals there, mostly deep ones, like around 5-7 inches. I did not dig them, only the ones about 3" of less. Those I dug, were 75% of the time coins, 90% pennies. I suppose it is good practice. I estimate there are about 1000 to 2000 such deep signals at the park. When the soil gets wetter, I'll spend more time digging some.

I saw an energy drink can on the ground and passed my coil over it. My Elite 2200 said it was a dollar. It seems that the PT (pull tab) detection circuit only works on small aluminum objects and any aluminum object larger than a PT shows up as a coin. That is a bummer since aluminum stays in the ground forever and does not corrode.

I still have fun and am learning the quirks of the sport.
