Aluminum Bottle Caps

Ignoring the steel crimped bottle caps are a cinch. What's your method for the aluminum bottle caps? Lets hear from you guys.

The crimped ones do, but not the aluminum twist caps. Twist caps are more in the high 60's and vary on how they are smashed. So lets get the technique for the aluminum ones.

I usually dig those rascals. I view them the same way that I view the ubiquitous pull-tab. As you know there are a lot of good targets that come in in that vdi range. If there are just too many of them per square foot, that's what the discrimination is for. I hate to do that but sometimes that's the only way to hunt certain areas. An old tavern site that I hunted comes to mind. There were so many wine-caps and other trash that the only practical way for me to hunt it was to only accept from +74 to + 93. I took a lot of silver from that site but I cringe at what I know that I left behind. I'll have to go back there with a back-hoe and take the top 4" off!

Happy Hunting,

Here in the U.K. ignore bottle cap or foil VDI's at your peril. This is the range a lot of our hammered medieval coins come in at !!!

So I hope this is something someone has mastered ....

I just dig the darned things, they are not deep and it takes less time to pop them out of the ground than trying to determine if it is something you want to dig or not.

Yup dig em! Dug many OLD tokens 83-86 VDI @ 22khz. and 7.5khz. Wouldn't want to miss a gold coin.

That was very informative by far, I dig them all the time but I have never found a gold coin yet but i will make it my mission now.
