Alternate battery source to lighten your 'C' cell powered metal detector

I figured out a way to lighten the load of my Whites Liberty Di. Though lighter than a 6000 DI PRO and Eagle...the 4 C cell pack Liberty Di weighed alot and put stress on the handgrip. I decided to try out a new battery arrangement. There are hollow C battery cylinders that you can insert an AA battery into. Granted, you'll have to use the biggest mah rated batteries. Even though the battery life is shortened...the lighter weight will make a big difference. I am currently experimenting with 2650 mah AA rechargeable NiMh batteries. There are some 3000 mah NiMh on the market, but I'm looking for a name brand.

Been using them for a while Straker, with 2500 mAh NiMh rechargables A A 1.2 Volt.

You may have to scrape the plastic covering on the base of the battery's so that the

springs in the battery box make good contact. Work great with my 6000 di series 3

I also use the Bungee Harness, now that sure lightens the load.

If you really want to drop some weight then run a lipo rechargeable battery in it. I replaced my 8 AA batteries in my Sovereign GT with a 3 cell series lipo. These batteries are as light as it can get and recharge in an hour or less.
