Here's the one I use..

It still works really well.

My first one I've ever had is on your list.. The silver saber u-max with the troy s-9 coil was a super set-up!! But I understand the toltec models were pretty hot units in their day also.. I wanted to buy one early on when I started in the hobby, but ended up with something else.

Ditto on the Toltec's

Check out my answer to the thread " if you could have only one detector"..........................Hombre

I just picked up an Inca on another forum......................Neatest detector I've ever held in my hands, it's deep too! But the Aztec is way cool in my opinion.............Hombre

Bandido II or Silver Sabre II. Light, hip/chest mountable, good disc, two of my favorites. anyone has one of these in excellent shape email me if you wanna get rid of it:cheers:

Hey Scully
Would that be Bandido ll (old brown box, cira 1993) or the Bandido ll uMax from about 1997? I am lucky enough to have both of them, plus the original. Of the three that I have the Bandido ll uMax seems to be the deeper one. It is just a little more noisier in the small iron littered sites that I hunt in...............Hombre

Not counting what is listed, the only older Tesoro I got is the Bandido - 2. It's one fine piece for an older machine.

A few years ago when I first started 'decting I happened upon a used Toltec-100 and bought it for 150.00. I sold it a few years later for 175.00 and regretted it since. Heavy but every bit as good as my buddies Cortes. His Cortes got a bit deeper but i was using a 8 " widescan. That machine taught me a lot about metal detectors and their features. I tell ya if you ever run across one get it! You wont be sorry. If you don't want to get it then let me know about it. My arm is recovering nicely from my Explorer days.

Its got the 7 inch coil on it too.. Like your Inca, its deep..

Hey Cherokeefan

The Aztec has all the features that make up a "classic" vintage detector. I love all the knobs and analog meter, they remind me of some MAD scientist's labratory equipment. The horseshoe handle looks cool, but I have never handled one in person. It appears that design of handle could be a wrist breaker...........is it comfortable over a long period of use? Thanks for showing it here.........Hombre

Tha handle actually isn't too bad. I just extend the lower rod out almost all the way and swing from next to my leg.. It is heavy though. It takes 8 AA batteries and it all metal. I have to change hands about every 20 - 30 minutes of hunting.

I still have a Inca and a Toltec100. They are fine older machines and I like hunt with them. I probably found more with the Inca (years ago) than any other Machine. Today I use a Vaquero Most of the time. Bill in Texas

Howdy Bill
, I just bought an Inca, the reset button does not work on mine, but I have not really played with it much yet.In the Disc mode it is deep, I can get more coil lift on my test dimes at 6in.and 8 in. than any machine I have............Hombre

I couldn't describe it as an 'oldie' of the Tesoro line-up, but I like my Pantera quite a bit.

Well, everybody knows it's the Royal Sabre. I can use the notch function in high trash areas, or switch to normal discriminate and by rotating the Notch knob, cause the tones to id as: high tone for coins, mixed tones for the tab area, and low tone for the nickel area-OR I can go to notch accept and dial in JUST the object I want to find-OR I can set it at tab disc and rotate the dial where the screwcaps give a mixed tone and coins above screwcaps give the high tone. Why, I can even rotate the notch level and get nickels while missing most of the square tabs that register as nickel. And, if necessary, I can select pinpoint and have a true allmetal, slow retune mode. Of course there's the blanking feature that only allows faint targets, but I never use that. It's about like having 4 detectors in one. If it had ED 120, it would be the ONLY detector for me.:yo:
