Along the Docks.....Update on Schooner Adventure

The repairs are coming along just fine... the Shipwright ( Carpenter) told me, the Adventure was made with Yellow Pine. The replacement planking is live Oak, which will last a lot longer. They make the job look easy... tapping in Oakum. Then cover with caulking. He said eventually all the planking will have been replaced, within the next Ten Years! It takes a lot of money for maintenance, specially for a vessel of this size. Most of the money is raised thru Grants, or private donations The Shipwrights you see here are from Maine. They will travel where the money is...
In the bottom photo, is the Phyllis A. a gill Netter... belongs to a friend of mine..

When do you think the work on the schooner Adventure will be completed? Have you ever sailed on the Phyllis A.? You are producing some great pictures with your camera. Thanks for sharing. Kelley (Texas) :)
