I was working this area that has been giving-up a lot of pre-WWII era coins, so I figured sooner or later I'd find some silver. The soil is so soft that almost all of the good targets are 8" and deeper. I first found a Merc at 8" that I almost mistook for a clad dime because it was so dark. This tar-like substance once again. Then later I hit a iffy nickel signal, dig it, and thought I found a clad nickel at 9". Believe me, in this part of the woods I wouldn't be shocked. It wasn't until later on at home and when I started cleaning it that I noticed it was shinier than the others. What do ya know, it's a silver War nickel, P mint. Two silver day, almost walked away thinking I had found zero. CLEAN THOSE COINS!
