Well,I don't know if any other 705 owners have ever thought of selling their machine for a e Trac but I did.And right after I thought no way.I've never had a minelab b4 but this 705 is really the cats ass. I'm gonna get a multi frequency minelab but I'm not selling this Xterra short to get it,it's too good.by the way, numbers are ok but I dig mostly by what the sound is,so would a se pro be just as good as a e Trac if I didn't care much about the numbers?as a 2nd detector to my 705.

Having both a 705 and an Explorer SE, I can tell you that at current prices for used E-tracs they are worth the extra for the much faster processor.

I have been told the E-Trac is not a good detector to use on ploughed fields, well they couldnt be more wrong. Today I searched for 8 hours, the first four hours was X-terra 705 time, and I love how easy and well balanced that detector is with the elliptical coil. That coil gets through the clods easily and is fast picking up signals.
I had short brake with coffee and bite to eat and went out again, this time with the E-trac on another ploughed field, and shortly had my first good signal. The pro-coil worked nice on the ploughed field, and funny is a lot of people say E-trac is unbalanaced, well I dont know but I have no
problem what so ever with my ET. Actually when I do four hours of editing (Im a photographer) Iknow next day will be a bad day becuse it give me tension headache, but I can swing my detectors for hours and hours feeling nothing the next day, even with the heavier E-Trac.No I dont use harness.I won a Minelab Pro-Swing,on the Go Minelabbing day in Sweden, but sold it unused. Feel trapped in a harness...haha..

I used the E-trac on pasture the last hour before dark and I had some really nice bits coming up,but also some bottle caps at 12"?? With a clear signal.I must say, when the condtions are right the E-trac is a deeeep detector.
The X-terra 705 is favorite for a faster search to find the hot-spot,then I change to the heavier gun E-Trac :) My search ground is kind to me,becuse on the X-terra I get a ground balance around 50 ish..

If I was you I would go for a E-Trac instead of the Explorer even if its a really good detector.

I think the X-terra and E-Trac is an amazing set-up.

/Mike

I've had the FBS machines, and for relic hunting, I've always gone back to the X-Terra. Just more stable for me...............Mark

Might get an E-trac one day but the X-terra series never ceases to amaze me. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" That's how I see it.:detecting:

I have always used the E-trac before I had my own detector, and there really is nothing that the 705 can not handle. It does have a simple looking display compared and the E-trac does have those additional features. It will make your deeper searching easier, especially for the silver range. They are both must have detectors, and I really think you should eventually get both, but do not sell the 705 for the E-trac faster. As said earlier, you will go back to the 705 for specific hunts.

Their great in ploughed fields except when it's freshly ploughed and full of fluff, but I think that affects all detectors

I thought you wasn't going to sale it. I see you have it for sale on the classifieds.

Had to fund a e Trac, keep in my coils though,I'll get another in the spring.not happy but I guess I'll not sleep till I try this e Trac out.....

cheaper to fly here and try it out hands on :)

or I just tell some clients here they could find a local club, there is bound to be an E-trac around that someone will let you roam a field with to really test it out and give you a little tutorial on the machine. I do want to say that the machine really is the bee's knees.....if I can say anything about it haha.

Well, got my wr700s in the mail and I gotta thank long hair for telling me about them,100 used and these wireless headphones are great!

You're welcome. They will work well with your E-Trac too.

It won't be long before you have another Xterra. And you'll be welcome back.

Haven't sold it yet..lol..but I'm takin it,the digger coil and these new headphones to a 1890 farmhouse tomorrow, hope it all comes togethor

I have both the ET and the 705 , I use the ET on the wet and dry beach and land and the Terra on the dry beach and sometimes on the wet if not saturated . Not as deep in the salt wet but is an all-rounder and cheap to run .
So far in nearly 5 years I have had £5432.78 with the ET and £5792.43 in 4 years with the 705 . ET is better finding the Gold but have had 6 with the Terra over 5 years .
To me its like having an Aircraft Carrier with a good Destroyer escort , one cant go without the other .
The Explorer is closely matched to the ET and I recently bought a mint almost unused Explorer 11 , with my old Explorer's I had many Gold till the ET came along.

Well, had it up for sale and nobody wanted it,at 450,I thought the price was fair.2 week's and no one.with or I'm crazy or people just don't know how good this machine is..well,I'm not gonna lose money and I took it down so I'm getting a e Trac but keeping the 705.and who knows,I might not even like the e Trac, but I know I like the 705.one thing I'm not liking is this 6hf coil,I think my digger is better.

Keep both machines , they are the best for beaches . My ET has had another £78 this week .

Can you be so kind to send me information on those headphones. I searched for them but they didn't show ones with the "S" wr700

Thanks

They are just WR-700. The "S" added at the end was just plural (one set).
