Searched an old house in one of the local villages and for an instance thought I had finally hit it!! Alas, wrong again. Boo-hoo, boo-hoo. EMMMMMPTY. Close but no cigar.

Found a secret hiding place while remodeling my house. Inside we're three large shoe polish tins. Nervously opened the tins just to find old shoe polish. Why would someone hide shoe polish. Maybe next time will be better.

I had a similar experience a few years ago while searching around an old house site.
I was searching around a stone foundation and got a signal behind one of the rocks.. I move the rock and found a small aluminum box that looked like it had been there for some time.
I just knew I was about to hit the motherload.. old coins, jewlrey, and other nice finds.
I opened it up and discovered it was a geocache..it did have a dollar coin in it which I took and replaced with and item I had found at the site earlier, so it wasn't too disappointing.
Better luck next to you next time.

When I got out of the service in 1970 I lived in my parents basemant in MA for a few months, moved on to CO and a few years later while I was home for a visit I was down in the basement and looking around I glanced up at the beams and saw money sticking out, reached up and plucked $18 off the rafters, I don't even remember putting it there. Woop-ee!
