I'm glad I did !

I bet you're glad you went too! What a nice find. Congratulations Scott! It's a beauty. HH, Nancy

Thanks Nancy. The kicker is I could see that someone had definitely hunted the same tanbark play area just before me. The grid lines they had made were still in the bark. I found the necklace in pretty tight against the play equipment about 2" down with the 6x10 coil. I guess he didn't or couldn't look there. It gave a nickel/ring signal in one direction and then a rapid skipping signal at a 90 degree sweep. I thought it was a nickel just below the surface. Turns out I was wrong.

I wonder if those "grid lines" were from some one's feet and trying to find the necklace? But then since you did find it 2" deep and near the post, possibly not. Wonderful find again! Nancy

You could be right Nancy but my guess is they were just generally hunting the area. In any case, I have some close friends whose children go to this school and told them to put out the word if anyone has lost any valuable jewelry. They will give my phone # to anyone who says they have and if they call and give a matching description, the necklace will be returned. No problem.

One more thing. The picture quality is not very good so I don't know if you can see but there are 16 stones in the pendant. I found the necklace in a well-to-do area. My guess is it was a sweet 16 gift for someone. The gift was probably given to them in the glove box of their new car. Just a guess. I'll let you know if the owner comes forward.

Way to go Scott! Bless you! People like you give this hobby a good name. Wish more were like you. HH, Nancy

Very nice find Scott and even better that you plan to return it if you can . congrats on a good hunt . I got out for a little while yesterday here in Missouri but was wet everywhere from the snow melting yet . I did find 43 cents and my hunting buddy found 40 cents in another spot . Holes fill up with water after you did them and makes it rough to find your target . You did good ...

We're all in this together. What one of us does we can all either benefit or suffer from. I just got done reading a post by Cupajo where he described returning a gold ring to it's owner, it made me smile. We've all lost something we valued and I have 2 daughters so I can empathize. The satisfaction of being able to return the necklace would probably be just as great as the thrill of finding it, for me at least. I'll post if there's any developments.
