Haven't done much detecting lately due to injuries, but finally feeling up to start hunting again full-time. Took a road trip to Newport, RI to re-hunt a couple of parks that I've had great success at in the past, using my XS and stock coil. Now that I have the SE Pro & SEF 10 x 12, my plan is to return to basically every site I've been to.
This turned out to be a great day. I did park #1 in the morning, and came up with a 1939 Merc & 1898 Barber, along with a couple of toasted foreign coins, an 1898 Indian, several wheats and a small silver kids ring.
Went to park #2 after lunch and within 5 minutes of turning the machine on, found a 1947 Rosie. Maybe 15 feet from the Rosie, I got a great sounding hit (I will be loading the video that you can check out on my website- jeffsburiedtreasures.com) and it turned out to be a sweet 1923 Standing Liberty quarter! Too bad there's no "S" mintmark! Again, maybe 10 feet from the SLQ, another high tone but only about 4 inches- figured it couldn't be another quarter so I didn't film it- sure as heck, 1943 Washington! Needed a Barber or Seated to complete the Twin Trifecta, but it was not to be. Found another 8 wheats there but no additional silver.
I hunted until my body couldn't take any more! All in all, it was a great day, and certainly gets me psyched to return to many places I've already done.
HH All!
