I followed my lead from the other day at the wood chip playground. I found a pea stone playground. It went down 3" to 6" in fine gravel then it was like concrete. I didn't need a digger, just sifted the gravel between my fingers. There was a decent amount of coins. After a while I took to the grass. The finds got a little better. I know why they make bricks out of clay. Just to dig 3" was very hard. I had to chip at the baked clay. A good reason to have a hand held pp. I used it to locate the target, so I wouldn't nick it with the digger. I broke my digger. Fortunately I had 2 backup diggers in the car. I got one of those soda can reading under a bench, hit on quarter, 2" down and big. I dig most everything. Gad I did.

I should have taken a before and after picture. It was black and nasty looking. Funny thing about international sterling is I could only find their silver ware. I never read anything about their jewelry. The co. started in 1898 and changed hands many times.
