Hi Folks,
Brand new to this forum, and back to detecting after a 30 year absence. (My old Garret was PRIMITIVE by today's standards).
Living on Florida's Space Coast...surrounded by beach, islands and history.

Pleased to meet you. I'll try to keep stupid questions to a minimum.

Hello B.E.!

Welcome to the forum and remember, "The only stupid question is a question not asked"

I live a very short distance from Kellyco. When I bought my first detector, I lived in the northeast. It was pre-internet, and the transaction (with Kellyco) was handled via US mail. This time it was easier to drive there, talk with them, try a bunch of different machines and decide which one(s) fit the bill. I don't dive, but I spend a lot of time on the beach (thus the Sovereign).
The Pioneer 505 was a BOGO deal...$139 bought it, along with 2 coils. My lady uses that one.
I expect a learning curve here, and I will probably send the unit to Mr. Patrick for the In-Sight meter mod.
It's good to be back.

I have the meter mod you are talking about. I really like it. The only time I don't like it is when I'm trying to teach people how to use my detector. I had an Elite done also. I have since sold that unit.
Do yourself a favor and pick up some toggle boots. Sand will ruin those switches. A hip mounted Sovereign is a great way to beach hunt. If I lived close to Kellyco I would be there all the time. I would love to look in their warehouse and see all the detectors stacked up. I would probably be divorced too!:cheekkiss:

The Sovereign is easy to learn. Almost all the switches are set and forget.

Welcome back.

My greatest fear is that when I die, my wife will sell all my toys for what I TOLD her I paid for them...

Hello there

I'm only a week into this forum myself. As you can see, they are a friendly bunch and very knowlegable.

Personally, my area of expertise is UK ploughed fields and pasture, I've never beach detected, so I'll probably be of little use to you :nopity: .

Good luck with re-starting the hobby. When I think of Florida (although I've never been there), I always picture beaches stuffed with gold dubloons and pirate chests. Well, maybe it's more the odd ring and dime, but hopefully you'll get lucky.

Welcom to our forum. You can find a lot of information here by useing the 'SEARCH' button at the very top
of the page. Also saves a lot of time. Try a subject and see what you come up with.

Big Easy my wife will probably do the same thing when I croak so I've informed her I'm not going to be the first one to go...I'm selling all the rings I've found and she wears and buying more detector stuff...........

Toggle boots: I just called Kellyco, and they don't have them. Anyone know who might?

Welcome to the Minelab club. There are some very knowledgeable people here who are always willing to help. I use the Sunray half boots. They are a bit pricey but are well made. They are a sponsor here so just click the Sunray banner for the number and give them a call.

Welcome. If I lived by Kellyco they'd probably ban me from lingering around the store just to smell that new detector smell. :sadwalk: I think I bought my boots from Dixie (search for a thread about 6 months or so ago on this, it'll have a link). They always have them in stock. I also posted a little how to on doing the boots. Simple but there are a few rules to keep in mind, mainly don't over tighten them, use needle nose pliers to hold the switch, and make sure the switch is clean before sealing any trapped dirt in there forever with the boots. These are half boots, meaning no rubber on the top of the switch, but they still seal things. Boots that cover the entire switch soon wear holes in them anyway, so I'd stay away from that type if you can.

Hello from across the pond........

Please don't otherwise I will have to ask them........... The knowledge of the GT on this forum is invaluable - you can safely throw out the manual.
