All you Ace 250 warriors out there - How come I'm not seeing...

...the complaints that we all saw early on regarding the Ace 250's being unable to pinpoint as deep as it detects? Did everybody learn a secret (getting it to pinpoint beyond about 4-5 inches) and not tell me???

I love the 250 and have some great times with it, but that's one very large limitation I'd like to see Garrett deal with. :poke:

And if by chance you get a signal and can't pinpoint it, move the coil away from the target, set the coil on the ground and now slide it over the target. This should help.

I had the same problem (weak pinpointing) with one of the first Ace 250s.

I have a newer Ace 250 now and can see and feel some updates.

One update is new skrews for the coil (Two parts now.....three parts before)

New rubber rings where the coil and the lower rod connects.

And stronger Pinpoint Mode....yes they changed it.

Pinpoint is so strong now that i have to press pinpoint OVER the target to make it shrink.

Andy

So how did you go from having an old Ace 250 to a newer one? I'd feel a little bad selling the old one just to get a new one if I knew whoever got the old one would have the same limits on pinpointing that I've had.

I've been toying with the idea of sending it in for repairs anyway - got a small slit in the faceplate - do you think they'd update the pinpointing while they had it?

Thanks

Send it in and tell them about the weak pinpoint. Garrett will take care of it.

You are right, you shouldn't sell a detector that doesn't work perfect.

That shows us what kind of nice person you are.

HH,
Andy

Tried them - might've helped a little bit. I think I'm just going to follow Andy's advice and send it in and get it repaired/updated.

Thanks guys!

Nah it still has that drawback but we just live with it. I'm going to pester Garrett a bit and see if they can tweak some more depth out of pinpoint.
