...true. My 9 year old daughter just found a 14k ring! At 8 grams, she just paid for the Compadre a couple times over!

That is great news!

Good for her, she better keep a close eye on the Compadre so her dad does'nt sneek off with it..lol

I called that as soon as Dan said he was getting a Compadre for his daughter. I bet she is hooked big time now.

Yeah, she's pretty pumped to get out again. The Compadre is a nice machine, but I still prefer the rich language of the Vaquero. If only I had got my coil over this ring first...

Dan

You don't have to get your coil over it first. Simply instruct your daughter that daddy needs to verifly all good sounding signals before there is any digging.

I think she is hooked. Now you have to get one for you to use. I am happy she found it. Show dad up. HA! HA!! I hope she finds more... Great job young lady... KEN:clapping:

She was getting frustrated that I was sucking coins out of the ground like a vacuum with my Vaquero. Lots of nickels! Then the gold shows up and no more frustration! I had to explain that my success is from 25 years of detecting experience compared to her week or so. Know your machine I told her, and you'll be successful too. Then she finds gold! So much for the fatherly advice!

Dan

better she be hoked on detecting than crack , thats a huge ring, 8 grams how could you miss that thing,

I just love hearing stories like this.Congrats.to your daughter.

Thank you for posting this story, its cheered up my day. I would of love to seen the expression on her face.
Way to go Dad.

Yeah man, that's a memory forever:clapping:

Does she have any advice for the rest of us?:detecting:

I am getting a Compadre for my 8 year old son this spring. I want a simple detector that will give him instant success. Let me think about that a minute. Yep it's the Compadre! He has been accompanying me this last season and usually runs the pin pointer. The best part about it is that when he is with me I use the speaker on the Silver. He listens to the audio and tells me if it is trash or treasure. Even with his limited experience he can tell the difference between a clean sound and one with ragged edges. Just because it is his doesn't mean I won't have to try it!
