All things being equal which would detect a dime deeper ...

The 1266X or a CZ-5?

Same ground, same coil (8"), same day, same target ... just the detector different.

I think they would be about equal but my buddy says the CZ-5 would be at least 1 inch deeper.

Willee...I am guessing a CZ guy would hear it deeper, and a 1266X guy would as well.

If its a newbie that hasn't ever used either detector, my bet is the CZ if properly ground balanced.

I've previously owned a 3D, 70Pro, and currently own a CZ6 (small-plug)..
Also, Currently own 2-1265X's and 1-1266X...One of my 1265X's beats/beat them ALL on depth.....Air-tests and in the ground..

But!..I do not have a 10" coil on the CZ6 as I do on the 65X......

The 65X beat/beats the 3D and 70pro and 66X with 10" coils installed on all 4 them in my ground.......

Just my 2 cents worth of useless babling info......Is the snow melting yet???

A lot depends on your ground and your expertise with either but all in all pretty close either way. Read somewhere that a CZ would be the winner in wet ground and the 1266 would be the winner in dry ground and I know a CZ goes deeper in wet ground but my expertise on a 1266 is limited..Lets call it a tie and in your neck of the woods either might excell and deal in proper tuning also as it comes into play comparing the two models so honestly a tough question but the difference would be minimal either way as both are deep units in the hands of a detectorist that knows his unit well..

A slight edge goes to the 1266/1265,with a SOLID 4.8 khz. freq, versus the CZ5/CZ6, which has divides it TOTAL POWER OUTPUT between 5Khz and 15 khz..

You would therefore have to think, the CZ's 15 khz. take away a **small portion** of the CZ. TOTAL DC POWER ,
and devotes it toward lower conductors/gold....

You would also have to deduce the CZs are hotter on Gold,(lower conductive targets), but perhaps IRON as well! Lol!!
(There is no free lunch when it comes to pure PHYSICS!!)

PS... The CZ I had was DEEP, but it also loved nails!!!

I've never owned a 1265X though... Is it true the 1265 likes nails too???

According to Engineer, George Payne, ( he designed a lot of what we have in VLF detectors today ), the ideal frequency for a US Dime would be 2.7kHz. So I would have to say the one closest to that frequency would be the one. That is is everything else was equal.

Go with the 1280x, 2.4 kHz and get the half dimes while you are at it.:beers:
