I hit this big park where a festival was held last week...All the right signs! There was the fresh travel patterns in the grass, where the beer was sold, where the food was sold, dancing went on, jewelry vendors booth was an easy find on account of these stickers all over the ground in one booth, and I dont think tee shirts cost this much...[attachment 299342 sept1714.jpg][attachment 299344 sept1714-1.jpg]

Shoulda been a lot of fresh dropped clad...but there was not but a few dimes and maybe a nickel? All the rest of this stuff was deeper and had been there a while...I hit a 925 ring, and a 57d wheat., and a couple of tokens and junk...[attachment 299343 sept1714-3.jpg].

Running the F70 at 40 sens...a real trashy spot built on foundry slag..its like hunting inside a dumpster..I made a hobby out of trying to fish a lot of nickels out of here today since there was no fresh dropped Q's everywhere...

Wheres all the fresh drops and gold? Generally a guy comes out of here with ten bucks after a festival of this size, nice fresh drops ready to spend! I have found 3 nice silver rings out of here in the past few years, so I think, with all the tabs and nickels, theres gotta be a Golden Pony in here someplace! I set up the 70 using my wedding ring as a calibrating tool..(37tid)....4 disc, 40 sens, -3 thresh, DP tones...I wanted to have @4" of signal, a nice solid hit that fades when a guy raises the coil to 5"...then I started hunting the line where I found the silver rings...pulling all similar signals and of course all the hard clad hits...got that cheap aluminum ring in the zinc range....I hunted up tight to the sidewalk off to the side and managed some shiny clad..

The Park guys were mowing, and one came over to talk...He has a rig and hunts a little, I showed him a handful of tabs of course...then I asked him, "hey, whats up with no coins here after that big festival"? He said that this year the festival management sold tickets that folks used for beer and food and whatnot at all the festivals...Well no wonder no fresh drops!! Theres a thousand tabs, foil and crown caps in here..and a guy generally can pick through them for clad, but now what am I gonna do? I think I'll just use this place to go and snipe for gold when theres nothing better to do...

Well, if there was a gold band in the tab range you sure would have had it. We had a big festival here two weekends ago. I have hunted on a good chunk of the site three times now, including the day after it was over and all the tents, ect were down and I maybe have snagged $4.50-$5.00 bucks. And, a good chunk of that was from prior years. Last year the day after I got close to $10.00 in a couple of hours. This year, about half that in five or so. (?????)

Mud that's not a bad day detecting in most people's books. That nickel range is going to pay off one of these days for you.

Stupid blasted debit cards I'll bet, Mudpuppy. That's why you weren't finding coins...

Yeah I really dont see why anyone would carry cash anymore much less coins. Times have changed.

Agreed. I noticed at the last few "park" events in my area that the card scanners are getting more popular. Still have alot of cash&carry vendors.
But they're rounding to the nearest dollar. so that's cutting down on the loose change too.
