All packed up and going back for repairs!

Minelab has asked me to send back the CTX3030 for repairs and check out just what has caused the Carbon Fibre shaft to ware in such a short period! Along with the shaft waring the lower shaft would not hold from spinning about the cam was no longer holding!
Three weeks and travel time should be back in a month or so? Hopefully with the new software updates to include a beach program for water use that's suppost to be quite in deeper water?

I hope they get your CTX back to you quickly!

It appears Minelab is standing behind the CTX, but the number of issues the unit seems to have is really disconcerting. Water hunting (fresh or salt) is many times harder on a machine that hunting the dirt, and I'm really starting to think that the CTX may be under built for long term use in the water. .The worrying part is that some of these issues don't seem like they could easily be corrected without significant design changes.

Pardon my ignorance here, but is carbon fibre really rated for underwater use?

I'm sure you will see your machine back much faster. When I sent my machine in, I had it back within a week, including travel time. Minelab's customer service and turn around time are not what they used to be, they are much better.

As for these issues being disconcerting, I disagree. It's not that Minelab made us guinea pigs on the CTX. The first run of every machine has it's kinks that need working out and I don't blame Minelab one bit. They are standing behind their problem and fixing whatever issues come up. They send us shipping labels and give us a quick turn-around time. What else can we ask for?

I for one think Minelab does a great job with the design and build quality of their products. I have been cleaning the sand/dirt/grit out between my carbon shaft and the plastic to ensure that I won't have this problem. Long term I hope minelab comes up with a better solution but it's working for me for now.

Either way, I am glad Minelab are taking care of you and please let us know when you get it back as I am sure it will be much faster than you expected.

Thank for posting and keep us updated -Marc

BCNJ, it is real good!
I'll continue to follow to your topic!
And, after Minelab will return the CTX to my friend with similar problem, I'll write here.

Mine went back for an exchange. One of the issues was the shaft wear on the carbon as well. Only used it a few times and never in any sort of water. It wasn't from dirt since it was brand new and kept clean.
