Can the explorer run in the equivalent of all metal like the garrett gti 2500.How would you set it up and what would be the advantage or disadvantage to this.It just seems like it nulls a lot with factory settings and may be missing a lot of targets near items that are discriminated out. Thanks for any answers.

try iron mask, this is all metal mode, and you can set the level of iron you want to reject.

Hi Ludi, I'm not really sure how this would work in practice, but in theory if you go into the main menu and press select there is an option called clear which to my reckoning clears all discrimination fields and leaves the screen blank. Hope this can help you

I hunt several parks, one which is 130 yrs.old
and around 20 acres. Our fair grounds, about the same age and much larger.I have talked to people who were detecting over 30 yrs. ago and they did real well at both sites.I know there are some good things to find but I needed more depth. Just
got my explorer a week ago and have only been out a couple of hrs.I have high hopes for this spring.

In actual practice true all metal is what is refered to as pinpoint mode. The problem is everything sounds the same and there is no way to know good from bad. Most of the old timers will suggest iron mask -8 or -9. just remember to get into iron mask you need to push the button twice. once to set the level and again to activate it. Then set your sensitivity as high as you can and hit noise cancel. If you have an 8" coil you'll do better and have an easer time sorting out the good stuff. also increasing gain will increase depth but also the amount of noise and falsing.
