all metal

I would like to think that it would give you more depth. Only one way to find out ..

You get more of everything..... depth, noise, trash. Since many hunt by tone there comes a point of satuation and you tend to focus on high tones. You really need to find your comfort zones.... for me its just above AM with the minerals knocked out. Hunting in AM i prefer a smaller coil. The filtering system (your ears) doenst have as much to pick thru and sometimes more depth just gets you more response to deeper iron that you were walking over. More iron..... more coil shut down and you arent gaining much with the masking and reduced depth caused from deeper targets.

if you are working a clean area. would running all metal, give you maxium depth? what would be the disavantage.

All metal is Constant in Explorer or Tone 1 in Etrac, this is true all metal.
Advantages: detector works more stable, you can use higher Sensitivity, you can pick smaller targets, its only this way you can get maximum possible detector depth. But its only when you are interested in all targets.
Disadvantage, you will dig all targets, small and big, ferrous and non ferrous-everything will make the same respond sound.
I think this mode is very good for beaches.
For max depth use all metal with Long sounds, max Gain and try it with different Noise cancel Channels.
