all metal mode

I have been bumping along for 30 plus years. Recently added an MXT Pro to the other beauties hanging on the garage wall. In recent excursions thru this and other sites I am sure I have seen reference to using an all metal mode on the MXT Pro. Please enlighten me...Many thanks

I'm not the most experienced with this machine myself but here's my take . . .

If you want true non-motion all-metal you can either hold in the pinpoint trigger switch or push it forward to lock it. You can also detect all metals in motion mode by turning discrimination all the way down to zero, then you have a choice of 1, 2 or 7 tone searching. The designers only intended 7 tone to be available in "C&J" but a software bug allows it to be used in "RELIC" where a slower SAT speed gives a quieter more stable threshold. To do this start in "C&J" and select 7 tone with the push button then click the toggle into "RELIC". It will stay in 7 tone as long as you don't shut the machine off or push the buttons.

All metal mode also works in 2 tone ferrous standard relic mode, set the disc knob to where you want the tone break to be for example 1.5 to 2, then all low tones will be iron all high non iron, or set it at 7-8 to have low tone below 70 VDI to dig coins, this is the best way to find good targets in iron as you arent using any disc just
setting tone break to where you want it

Thanks gents. As soon as the temp(in Monmouth,Oregon) gets away from triple digits I'll see if these 79 year old bones can find something to get excited about.

Do the comments that were left apply to the MXT E-series as well? I have the MXT E-series and it seems its a little different.

If the E-series is a type that came before the Pro then yes there are some differences, particularly with respect to tones and the operation of toggle. The earlier MXTs also had notch disc. which was done away with on the Pro. Nancy has an earlier MXT - maybe she would give you her input.

The All Metal Mode is what some people call The Prospecting Mode, It is The most Powerful mode on the MXT and it also incorporates the Third Tone that is also In the Relic mode and that is the Key to getting the maximum Depth out of the MXT,

Hope This Helps.
