All HF Tumbler owners.......a question

Old Katz

New member
A question for all HF Tumbler owners.
Someone emailed me saying their machine seems to be leaking
and he can't find the leak! Says he has not noticed any gas build up.

Has anyone noticed this happening with their tumbler?

What other problems has anyone had with their HF tumbler?

The only thing I have noticed is that the top rubber seal that is supposed to fit snugly into
the contained no longer does so, probably because I have used the machine so frequently. I
may have to order another one from the distributor... Besides that I have had no issues with the HF tumbler.

:usaflag:I have'nt had any leakage issues since I quit using vinegar. But then again I have'nt used it since I cleaned all of my clad coins. And I probably won't again until next summer when I have collected enough clad to do so.

I'm going today and get some more belts. I just fill the barrels half full but it has broken both belts. I'm sure it was'nt overloaded so I will ask when I get there. HH :garrett::minelab::whites::tesoro:

My HF Tumbler ate belts like there was no tomorrow.......Replacement belts though mail order with shipping cost was not cheap.........soon my cheap HF tumbler

turned into a monthly bill to keep running............. I gave up and got a Lortone ............... but I do a lot of coin cleaning.

I've had a couple of them for years with no problems except the drive belt which I solved by buying and using wide rubber bands as drive belts.

You should have read my posts. You can solve that problem by buying a bag of cheap, wide rubber bands and using them for belts. They work great and cost pennies apiece.

Took mine back yesterday and they replaced the tumbler and the new one came with 5 extra belts. Wide rubber bands do work well.

Check out this web site http://www.futurememories.com/fm-nsi-635.html I bought one of these at a garage sale about 6 years ago. It is a rock tumbler kits for polishing rocks and stones. It has all the things you might need to make jewelry our of the stones. It also has a rock tumbler that holds up to about 2 cups of material. I put in about a cup or more of coins along with aquarium stones and some dish washer liquid and fill it up with water. Let it run for about 1 hour. Then drain the dirty water and refill it with water and soap again and do it for about another hour. I do this until the water comes out clean. It takes a while but it works good for me. Since I got my first set up I found a few other ones at garage sales and got them in case the first tumbler failed but so far I'm still using the original tumbler. One thing to remember DON'T PUT PENNIES IN TUMBLER WITH ANY OTHER COINS. If you Google the Internet you can find different prices for this kit.

I'd repaired a HF tumbler for a friend a few years back by replacing the rubber band with a sweeper belt (O-ring type), and as far as I know it's run since. Only real modification needed was notching the housing a bit (in 2 areas) to allow clearance for the round diameter of the new sweeper belt.
