Hello my friends and fellow metal detectorists as most of you know i have had issues with my 1999 Minelab Explorer XS First it was the control housing (the back area where the upper rod slides in)so i replaced it and it was great then in a couple weeks it started acting up Menu useage screen would pop up, couldn't access menu ect but it ran good in factory preset. So i took it apart several times trying too figure out if it was something i did or i was forgetting something . So last nite i decided too investigate the push pads on the front of the control now you all know this area is stuck on the face plate pretty good but in the area where the menu button is it was fairly loose so i took a really sharp thin knife tip and pride the push pad plate up and it lifted fairly easy so as i looked i saw a small metal square pad and i removed and cleaned it under that was the board button (vary thin) so i cleaned the area with alcohol and i let it dry so now i put the square metal push pad back in place and used nail hardener too secure the covering back down and let dry then i put control panel all back together. Then i put the battery POD back in and this is the last straw so i hit the power button and it went through it start up screen and and 'NO' Menu screen popped up i was and relieved but now i must reload all my settings before sundays hunt and also I'm so glad i dont have too retire it before the cold sets in. Thank You Sas
