"All excited" Small coil on it's way

Posted a wanted to buy - small 5" coil for my CZ-5 and a fellow forum member ( pryorcreekjoe) sent me a message saying he had a brand new never used one with coil cover for $60.00 shipped, even though I didn't really have the extra $$$ I figured it was a good deal so I bought it. It should be here tomorrow or Saturday. Is there any different technique that I should use with the smaller coil. I hear the CZ w/the 5" coil is a good combination. Thanks! Steve.

BTW pryorcreekjoe was a great guy to do business with, he was quick to answer my emails/questions & we had a nice chat on the phone. Man I love this hobby and the people that are part of it are fantastic.

SkiWhiz i just started using 5in coil on my CZ 70 it acts the same as bigger coils
I can raise my sensitivity up a little 'I just hit a small park 75 x 150 FT
My self and two others have not hit silver here in a few years
I grabbed 2 merc dimes 4 to 6 inches down with nails next to them
My hunting bud got no dig gable signal with his 8 in coil HH Mike

Steve, I hope you don't mind me giving any advice, but here it is. The CZ5 is a great detector and it will go deep accurately. If you keep and learn this detector it will reward you. I am glad you got a 5 inch coil as it will do you well. Good luck and keep the forum informed with your finds. R.L. Johnson

SkiWiz,
A very useful addition!
The 5 inch coil may give you the large target signal on quarters on or very near the surface. If you get that signal, raise the coil some to see how it ID's. Take your time and overlap. The 5 inch coil does work very well at picking things out in trashy areas.

Got the 5" coil this morning, put it on my CZ-5 went out in my yard to give it a try. I went over by one of the tree's and started sweeping the coil I got two hits close together - one low tone and one high tone. I dug the high tone, about 2 or so inches down is what I found in the picture. Not bad for a first target in an area that I have been over and over. I'm going really like this setup. Steve.

Forgot to ask - when using the 5" coil I can't seem to get a "hum" when lifting or lowering my coil to the ground when trying to ground balance. I just set the ground balance to the factory setting mark and it works fine, not a problem just find it strange. Thanks! Steve.

Steve...did you try ground balancing using the push button method instead of bobbing with the small coil ?

Nice find for the first time. Gotta love that small coil to sniff out targets between the junk.
