Alaska Gold Rush Ring?

I found this in the woods near a late 19th century coal mine. Stamped inside are the words YUKON18K and some old style script of initials. Does any one know of any website I can to find its origin? It looks handmade under the magnifying glass. Found in C&J at 5 inches, heavy trash, sens. at 8, barely audible threshold, balance locked.

Hi, Interesting find, I was in Nome,Alaska several years ago and found some old silver coins (all in one glory hole) dated 1897 (new half dollar)and 3 older ones including one Mexican silver coin)I definitely relate them to the gold rush
days. I also got some gold, not much though, I would have liked to have my MXT then. I can't answer your
question about the origin of the ring, but I am curious about which coil you were using at the time
that you found it, and where you were (state). Also,
if you are interested in selling it, I'd like to see
more pictures of it (condition) and how much you'd
want. email me, thanks

Hi,
That is going to be really tough to track. The problem is they make rings very much like this to this very day. I've got something similar I found this summer, but of recent manufacture.
A lot of jewelry that include gold nuggets are of more or less custom manufacture. They could almost all be called "handmade". I've got a good jeweler friend who has made lots of custom nugget work over the years for people. So anyone finding one of his rings years from now will be finding a unique item with little chance of ever learning who made it or when. Check out his website at the link below.
But good luck... you might just get lucky and have somebody know more about this particular ring than I do!

I found the ring in an area bulldozed flat around 1920; in the Seattle area. It was a company town. I believe that its from the gold rush era from both the initials inside the band (old style script) and the non-existent populace for 90 years. Also, I've found barber dimes, Indian Heads, V nickels and a few buffaloes (newest is 1917) but never any coins newer than 1917. Not sure that I'd like to sell it; its one of my better finds since I started detecting nearly 3 years ago. Here's a look at the intials inside the band. Sorry 'bout the large picture.
Thanks for your help. One of these days I need to get my MXT to Gaines Creek.
