Alas and farewell

The time has come to hang up the old detector. My mind can still hunt all day but my body says differently. So, I've decided to sell my MXT and move on. A simple hour and a half hunt on Saturday morning puts me out of commission for the rest of the day and Sunday too. The pain is just not worth it. I'll be checking back from time to time to see what you're finding. Happy Hunting!

Crabby,
Sure hate to hear that, but I know what you mean.:stretcher:
Maybe you can find a kid that will dig your targets for you.
Than no bending just swinging...:detecting:
Again sorry to hear that it's getting to painful.
Boy I don't know what else to say... I know you will be missed..

Keep in touch

Hi Ron,

I'm sorry to learn that you have reached this point. Given the bad athritis I have, I know my time spent swinging a detector will all to soon come to an end as well.

I would encourage you to mentor some young person in the hobby and teach them what you know. Hopefully you can go along with them on some hunts and still enjoy detecting in this manner.

If you enjoy the research side of the hobby, team up with a detectorist in your area and offer to help him/her with local research. I know that most of us who are still working are just too busy to spend much time researching really good places to detect. You may even be able to work out a deal where you can share the finds if you are so inclined.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas how to still enjoy this hobby even though your body says otherwise.

Best regards,

Keith

Sorry to hear your having to stop but maybe you can still enjoy the hobby through the internet . I am in poor health myself and limited on how long I can hunt usually two hours is about the limit for me .But I can see not to far from now I may have to cut back even farther .
Wish you and your Family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Crabby, I'm sorry to hear this, but I totally understand. Life is short and we have our priorities as to what we need to do. My heart goes out to you. You take care and keep coming back to shout a few "Hellos" when you can. The light will always be on. We've enjoyed your detecting friendship and I wish you the best. Happy Retirement, Nancy
