Alabama State Parks...Off limits

Dang, we got kicked out of a state park in south Alabama yesterday. The park ranger said it was against the law to MD in state parks. Anyone heard of such crap? I don't like politicians!

But if you get caught in a state park with a metal detector and you shouldn't be there....... tell 'em you were spot lighting deer at night and you'll get off easier.

Some state freshwater beaches will allow you to hunt but you must get permission first. The best idea is to get permission wherever you hunt. Good luck!

Where were you detecting? I'm planning a trip down to visit my son.

" ARPA "
" NAGPRA "
Read these Federal Laws .... They are serious , with bitter penalties .

Next ....

" FMDAC "

The national Metal Detecting Association ... go to the home page, and you will see a register of all the States , with information about each State's current laws . You will also see a continuing discussion of pending legislative initiatives around the country .

No one should be detecting on any land they do not clearly have the owner's permission to be on .

No land is "un-owned" .....

If you cannot locate the landowner , and obtain permission ,you are trespassing . Do not anticipate sympathy to be offered by a judge , for
committing such easily avoidable crimes .

To blame politicians , is a shot in the wrong direction . These laws
help prevent graffiti and desecration at the Washington Monument , and the grave sites of our ancestors , and the sacred ground at Gettysburg, and at Vicksburg , and at the Little Big Horn .

Read and comprehend the laws ....
Always get permission , or stay out ....
Cherish , and protect America's heritage ....

It's the special interest groups(like the archies)that get these
laws passed. They tried this in the waters too,but got challanged,
and lost. There needs to be a fair balance between the groups.I
don't want to mess up their areas or digs, and I don't want them
keeping me out of OUR parks. The PUBLIC lands belong to the public,
not to special interest groups.Laws need to be passed that let
them designate certain areas of known cultural interest, and of
LIMITED size for their use,and the rest for the public use, since
we paid for it,not them.If they worked with the hobby, instead of
against it ,they could further their cause in the process.Hundreds
of eyes and ears are better than a few.I hope we can get some
sort of fair legislation passed in the future.JMHO. Joe
